#10 GEOPOLITICS, TRADE & REGULATION

What outside the business can change the outcome inside it?

Tariffs, regulations, sanctions, border restrictions, trade agreements, and government actions can alter the environment around a business almost immediately. Their operational and financial consequences, however, may emerge through a much longer chain of suppliers, customers, pricing decisions, logistics, capacity, and compliance requirements.

The policy change is visible. The path from that change to the business outcome often is not.

The same rule can affect competitors differently, create costs in unexpected parts of the operation, or expose dependencies that were largely irrelevant under the previous conditions. Understanding the impact requires more than estimating the direct cost of the new rule.

This Hard Case follows a change in the external rules through ruwbi's six-step method to determine how it propagated through the business and what ultimately changed the outcome.
